Manama: Bahrain is set to host the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship from June 14 to 27, reflecting the Asian Volleyball Confederation's confidence in the Kingdom's organisational capabilities. Feras Al Halwachi, Secretary General of the Bahrain Volleyball Association, affirmed that preparations are proceeding as planned, supported by the Supreme Organising Committee led by Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Volleyball Association. He described the tournament as a key opportunity to showcase Bahrain's capacity to host continental sporting events.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Halwachi noted the national team's ambition to contend for the championship title after previously securing silver, commending the players' growth and the commitment of the coaching staff. To encourage fan attendance, the Supreme Executive Committee announced that entry to all matches will be free of charge. The Australian national team has already arrived in Bahrain and is set to begin training ahead of their Group A matches against Qatar and Kazakhstan.
The Asian Volleyball Confederation has also established an officiating committee for the tournament, chaired by Mohamed Latheef of the Maldives, with members including Maryam Hisabi from Iran, Dr. Khalid Al Zughaibi from Saudi Arabia, and Jaafar Ebrahim and Mohammed Jalal Hassan from Bahrain. Additionally, Mirza Ashour will oversee official photography for the championship.
