Manama: Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva, participated in a high-level meeting convened by Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with representatives of member states accredited to the Agency in Geneva.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting provided a platform for dialogue and the exchange of views on key issues on the IAEA's agenda, including nuclear safeguards, nuclear safety and security, nuclear energy, nuclear science and applications, and means to strengthen cooperation between the Agency and its member states. Participants also held an interactive discussion with the IAEA Director General on the Agency's priorities and current challenges.
Ambassador Abdullah emphasised the importance of the IAEA's role in promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, verifying compliance with nuclear safeguards, and supporting nuclear safety and security, thereby contributing to regional and international peace, security and stability.
