Bahrain Reaffirms Support for Sudan at Technical Working Group Meeting

Addis Ababa: As part of Bahrain's presidency of the Arab League Council at the Summit Level in its 33rd session, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Turaifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated remotely in the second meeting of the technical working group under the advisory team. The meeting was held at the UN Economic Commission for Africa headquarters in Addis Ababa and included representatives from countries and international organizations focused on Sudan.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Turaifi emphasized Bahrain's commitment to diplomatic and humanitarian efforts aligned with the Jeddah Declaration, which aims to protect civilians, resolve conflict, and ensure humanitarian aid reaches those in need in accordance with international law. He underscored Bahrain's stance as expressed in the Bahrain Declaration from the Arab Summit.

Al Turaifi urged the international community to provide support to Sudan and aid humanitarian organizations. He also highlighted the significance of economic and infrastructure initiatives to facilitate reconstruction and stability in Sudan.

The technical working group is part of ongoing efforts stemming from the third consultative meeting on coordinating peace efforts in Sudan, which took place in Nouakchott on December 18, 2024.
