Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has submitted the Main Messages for its Third Voluntary National Review, underscoring its ongoing dedication to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Her Excellency Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, affirmed Bahrain's commitment to the UN's 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This commitment is being pursued under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Bahrain is accelerating progress toward achieving the SDGs through agile and integrated policies, strategic partnerships, investment in human capital, and infrastructure development, while also planning for sustainable growth through Vision 2050.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Main Messages highlight Bahrain's response to unprovoked Iranian missile and drone attacks, which violated international law and the UN Charter, causing loss of life and damage. The Kingdom prioritizes protecting lives and national assets, ensuring no one is left behind, and maintaining national development achievements despite these challenges.
The Messages also reported significant progress since the Kingdom's second Voluntary National Review in 2023, particularly in utilizing advanced technologies and innovative solutions in sectors like healthcare. Bahrain aims to lead globally in precision medicine and genomic science.
The statement emphasized Bahrain's focus on future-proofing its economy by investing in human capital and education. Modernized curricula and training in areas like artificial intelligence are designed to enhance national talent competitiveness in a rapidly evolving world.
Efforts in environmental protection and cultural heritage preservation were also highlighted. Policies reinforcing national identity and sustainable development practices are central to these efforts.
Economic growth and diversification remain pivotal, with the non-oil sector projected to contribute over 86% of GDP by 2025. This marks a significant shift toward a sustainable economic model.
The submission of Bahrain's Main Messages marks the first step in presenting its Third Voluntary National Review at the High-level Political Forum in July 2026 at the UN Headquarters in New York.
