Manama:The Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, emphasized that Bahrain is committed to protecting its national workforce and maintaining labour market stability. This effort is guided by the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Khalaf highlighted the country's approach, which is designed to respond effectively to changing circumstances while supporting ongoing economic activities and preserving labour market achievements. This strategy includes collaboration between the executive and legislative authorities, particularly during the Iranian attacks, which led to the swift approval of a draft law.
This draft law ensured that the wages of insured Bahraini private sector workers for April 2026 would be paid from the Unemployment Benefits Record. The measure was intended to provide wage support for workers, ease employer burdens, and help businesses continue operations during that challenging time.
Minister Khalaf praised the legislative authority for its cooperation and rapid action on the draft law, showcasing the ongoing coordination between government entities and the legislative authority in supporting both market stability and the national workforce.
He further noted the importance of aligning legislation with executive policies to effectively address labour market developments. The ministry remains focused on developing legislative and regulatory frameworks that protect the rights of the national workforce, fostering a stable and sustainable business environment.
