Bahrain Police Day Celebrates Interior Ministry’s Achievements in National Security and Public Service


Manama: The Bahraini Police Force continues to uphold its principles and mission through loyalty and dedication, while advancing through sustained development and modernisation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the crime rate in Bahrain has declined to unprecedented levels, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Kingdom’s security and stability system. This achievement reflects the implementation of the security strategy led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, which is guided by the principle of community partnership.



Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Interior was consistently engaged in regional and international security cooperation. It actively participated in a joint international operation led by the International Security Alliance (ISA), targeting traffickers of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The Ministry also engaged in joint exercises and the exchange of information and expertise, focusing on expanding modern technologies and artificial intelligence applications to combat organised crime.



Advanced security performance and efficient services have become defining features of the Ministry’s work system. Various directorates received gold and platinum ratings in the fifth Government Service Centres Evaluation Programme. The Emergency Centre (999) handled over 2 million calls, operations patrols dealt with 27,229 cases, and 9,695 community services were provided.



In 2025, electronic reporting was launched via the “MyGov” application, allowing easy use and quick response without visiting police stations. The General Directorate of Civil Defence managed 13,838 cases and conducted 511 awareness activities. The Special Security Force focused on improving performance in operational and training aspects. Police directorates across governorates handled nearly 70,000 cases to maintain public order and enhance services.



Efforts are ongoing to equip Police Aviation with modern helicopters to enhance technical capabilities for public safety, emergency medical services, and law enforcement. The Police Aviation completed 557 flights, totaling 392 flight hours.



The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science managed numerous criminal cases, with 1,733 drug control cases reported by October. The Anti-Narcotics Directorate ranked first in the category of best field cooperation in information and operations at the Arab level.



Human trafficking cases reached 39, with Bahrain retaining Tier 1 status in fighting human trafficking for the eighth year, as per the US Department of State’s report. The Coast Guard strengthened maritime security with a fleet of modern vessels, launching 617 search-and-rescue operations and responding to 787 maritime violations.



In combating economic crimes, the Ministry handled 4,286 reports through November, with the Anti-Cyber Crimes Directorate receiving 1,661 cases. The Anti-Corruption Directorate addressed 193 cases, and the Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace managed 326 cases. The National Ambulance Centre received 55,388 cases, earning accreditation from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch.



The Alternative Sentencing Project, reflecting the humanitarian values of His Majesty the King’s comprehensive development process, benefited approximately 10,170 individuals since 2018. The “Fael Khair” initiative supported 817 people with a total value of BD 3,620,000.



The General Directorate of Traffic improved road safety, implementing amendments to the Traffic Law and introducing modern patrols. Traffic patrols responded to 80,167 accidents, including 464 serious injuries, and recorded 289,683 traffic violations. The Directorate launched 506 awareness projects, benefiting 30,000 people, and won an award for Best Practice in e-Participation.



The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs’ (NPRA) transformation plan achieved a 100% completion rate. Over 300,000 electronic passports were issued, and the “Smart Travel” system was implemented to optimise procedural speed and security. Over 32 million travellers entered and exited Bahrain via the King Fahd Causeway.



Customs Affairs modernised control methods and infrastructure, accommodating 14 million vehicles and 350,000 trucks, reducing average waiting time to 21 minutes. Airport customs recorded 228 seizures, and truck traffic reached 313,409 entries and exits, managing 6,117 smuggling cases.



The Financial Investigations National Centre progressed in combating terrorist financing and money laundering. Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah introduced a national strategy for this cause, enhancing Bahrain’s financial security.



The Royal Academy of Police organised 22 events promoting the National Human Rights Plan. The Training Directorate conducted 685 courses, benefiting 10,353 ministry personnel, enhancing security readiness and service provision.



The Police Media Centre’s security awareness projects included high-level content, with social media accounts reaching 838,000 followers. The Centre issued 103,000 reports and produced 4,196 media materials. The “Al Amn” and “Watani” magazines continued to raise national awareness.



The National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging and Reinforce Nationalism (Bahrainouna) progressed through various stages, including interactive exhibitions and innovative platforms.



The Ministry achieved notable successes in 2025 through its projects and initiatives. The Maan programme against violence and addiction was implemented in 173 schools, benefiting over 120,000 students. Bahraini women, represented by the Women’s Police, enhanced their role in community partnerships. The Human Resources Directorate was honoured for its “Healthy Workplaces” project and received awards at the 2025 Government Human Resources Summit.



Public Security Sports Association teams achieved successes in competitions, while the Permanent Tennis Committee built on achievements of the Bahrain Ministry of Interior Tennis Challenger. The Southern Governorate launched a video call service, while the Northern and Muharraq Governorates received WHO accreditation as healthy governorates.



On Bahrain Police Day, the Ministry of Interior renews its pledge of allegiance and loyalty to His Majesty the King.
