Istanbul: Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives and member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Secretaries General of National Parliaments, participated in a meeting of the Executive Committee, held on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Buainain stated that the Executive Committee approved several organizational and procedural items. These included the semi-annual reports on the association's activities and programmes during the past period, which showcased progress in institutional work and performance development.
Al Buainain highlighted that nominations were opened for the position of Deputy President of the association. This move is part of an effort to strengthen governance mechanisms and enhance participation in leadership roles, thereby promoting transparency and institutional renewal.
The committee also discussed proposed amendments to the association's regulations. One significant decision was the approval of Arabic as one of the official languages of the association. This step is expected to support linguistic diversity and enhance the participation of Arabic-speaking members.
He emphasized the Secretariat's commitment to supporting the development of international parliamentary work. This involves strengthening cooperation and the exchange of expertise among parliamentary secretariats, which is aimed at improving institutional performance and advancing joint work at the international level.
