Kuala lumpur: Deputy MP Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, attended an international conference focused on ‘The Role of Parliament in Shaping the Future of Responsible AI’. The event took place in Kuala Lumpur.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Deputy Salman emphasized Bahrain’s leadership in digital transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence, guided by the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that Bahrain has established a legislative and technological framework that facilitates innovation, sustainable development, and the incorporation of AI in government services.
Deputy Salman also highlighted Bahrain’s involvement in international parliamentary initiatives concerning AI, including contributions to the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s global legislative guide on AI. This participation underscores Bahrain’s dedication to developin
g legal frameworks that ensure technological advancement is matched by societal safeguards.
Furthermore, Deputy Salman pointed out Bahrain’s pioneering accomplishments, such as the Council of Representatives achieving ISO certification for AI management, launching initiatives like the AI Hackathon, and deploying advanced digital tools, including virtual assistants, to enhance parliamentary operations. Additionally, the Shura Council has adopted innovative digital platforms to assist its members and improve governance.
