Bahrain News Agency Leads 25th Meeting of GCC News Agencies Committee


Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for 2026, Abdulla Khalil Buhejji, Director General of Bahrain News Agency (BNA), chaired the 25th meeting of the Committee of Heads of GCC News Agencies, held via videoconference. The meeting was organised by the GCC General Secretariat, represented by the Human and Environment Affairs Sector, Media Department, in cooperation with BNA, and attended by heads of GCC news agencies and representatives of the General Secretariat.



According to Bahrain News Agency, participants discussed the implementation of decisions issued at the 28th meeting of GCC Information Ministers concerning initiatives and projects under the Strategic Plan for Joint Media Cooperation (2023-2030) in the domain of news agencies. Member states were invited to submit proposed initiatives and projects for 2026 within the framework of the plan. The meeting also underscored the importance of continuing training programmes in GCC news agencies in 2027.



The committee emphasised the importance of ongoing participation in the accompanying photography exhibition held during GCC Supreme Council summits in host countries, highlighting the achievements of joint GCC action. The continuation of exchange programmes for editors, photographers, and technicians among GCC news agencies was also discussed, along with other related agenda items.
