Manama: Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, chaired the 39th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Regional Organisation for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME). The meeting, held remotely, included participation from representatives of member states and the organisation's Executive Secretary.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Minister praised the member states for their efforts in supporting regional cooperation aimed at protecting the marine environment. He emphasized the continuous commitment of these states to enhance coordination, ensuring the implementation of plans and programs that align with the organisation's goals. Additionally, he expressed gratitude for the Executive Secretariat's role in advancing the organisation's programs and improving institutional efficiency.
The Minister reiterated Bahrain's dedication to supporting joint efforts in safeguarding the marine environment and preserving its natural resources. He highlighted the Kingdom's emphasis on regional initiatives that promote sustainable environmental development and strengthen national capacities to address environmental and climate challenges.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed several agenda items, which included updates on the organisation's strategic directions for 2026-2030, forthcoming programs and projects, and administrative and financial matters related to the organisation's operations.
