Bahrain: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Ministry of Social Development chaired the 17th meeting of the GCC Committee of Social Affairs Experts. The meeting was chaired by Sadiq Abdulali Sahwan, Director of the Social Rehabilitation Directorate at the Ministry of Social Development, and was organised virtually by the Executive Bureau of the GCC Council of Labour and Social Affairs Ministers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting brought together experts from the ministries of social affairs and social development across GCC member states. Representatives from the GCC General Secretariat's Human and Environment Affairs Sector and the Labour and Social Affairs Department also participated.
In his address, Sahwan reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting joint Gulf action and strengthening coordination and integration among GCC member states. He highlighted the importance of advancing social policies and programmes, exchanging expertise and best practices, and continuing collaborative efforts to address development priorities and achieve shared objectives in the social sector across the GCC.
The meeting also reviewed the agenda items to be submitted to the upcoming meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers of Social Development Affairs.
