Lisbon: Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior, led the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to a ministerial conference involving European Union countries and states from the Middle East and North Africa. The meeting, held in Lisbon on November 13-14, aimed to advance regional dialogue on security cooperation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Deputy Minister of Interior commended the organisation of the event during the opening session and expressed appreciation for the efforts made to provide a constructive environment for the conference. He emphasized the importance of the forum as a platform for regional dialogue and the exchange of views on shared security issues.
Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel highlighted the conference as an opportunity to present security initiatives that support the development of an advanced model of regional police cooperation based on shared responsibility and international solidarity. He stressed the necessity of enhancing joint security efforts to protect national resources and uphold state sovereignty, particularly amid rising threats related to organised crime, terrorism, and emerging technologies. These priorities align with Bahrain's efforts to reinforce security and stability and to support sustainable development at regional and international levels.
The conference agenda included a roundtable that examined how countries can move from identifying security challenges to developing coordinated responses within a modern regional cooperation framework. Senior officials also met to discuss and draft the joint declaration, and additional sessions explored future opportunities for security cooperation between the two regions.
