Manama: Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) has launched the second edition of the "We Write in Arabic" initiative, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs. The initiative is a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Visa Inc., Zain Bahrain, and the Bahrain Writers Association.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative aims to promote the Arabic language by linking it to creativity and innovation for individuals aged 10 to 35. It includes four main categories-short stories, graphic novels, poetry, and novels-with cash prizes up to BD 1,000 for winners in each category. The literary works of the winners will be published in a book dedicated to the initiative.
The initiative is part of BisB's strategy to support community development and invest in the next generation's national talent. Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayyad, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, highlighted the initiative's role in empowering young people and promoting creativity through the Arabic language.
Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Information, expressed pride in the Ministry's continued participation, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Arabic language as a key component of Bahrain's cultural identity. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, underscored the initiative's role in fostering students' connection to their mother tongue.
Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, stated that the initiative opens new avenues for Bahraini youth to express themselves creatively. Fatema Al-Alawi, CEO of Bahrain Islamic Bank, expressed pride in launching the initiative's second edition, noting its success as a platform for cultural expression.
Ali Bailoun, Regional General Manager of Visa, commented on Visa's commitment to community partnerships that support innovation and digital transformation. Mohammed Zainalabedin, Managing Director of Zain Bahrain, highlighted the initiative's alignment with Zain Bahrain's vision of empowering future generations through the Arabic language.
Dr. Rashed Najem, President of the Bahrain Writers Association, emphasized the initiative's role in discovering promising writers and reinforcing national identity. Registration for the initiative is now open through an online platform, with submissions evaluated by a panel of distinguished writers and academics. The initiative will feature interactive events and workshops, concluding with an awards ceremony on World Arabic Language Day.
