Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador to the United States, hosted the third GCC-Jordan roundtable at his residence in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by ambassadors from the GCC member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, along with their military attach©s. They were joined by a U.S. delegation led by Elbridge A. Colby, Under Secretary of War for Policy, and representatives from the U.S. Department of State.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions were part of ongoing consultations on regional and international issues of mutual interest. The participants emphasized the need to strengthen strategic partnerships and coordination to bolster regional security and stability. They focused on addressing current challenges, safeguarding maritime security, ensuring freedom of navigation, and promoting economic stability and collective security.
The meeting also featured exchanges on regional political and security developments, efforts toward de-escalation, and enhanced defense and security cooperation. Broader initiatives aimed at supporting regional stability and sustainable development were also discussed. Participants highlighted the importance of continued coordination, information sharing, and practical cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to diplomacy, constructive dialogue, respect for international law, and the sovereignty and security of states in addressing regional challenges.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all parties reiterated their commitment to building on the positive outcomes of previous discussions. They agreed to maintain close cooperation in support of regional and international peace, security, and stability.
