Bahrain Handball Team Faces China for the Bronze in Asian Youth Games

Manama: Bahrain’s national youth handball team will conclude its participation in the 3rd Asian Youth Games with a decisive match against China, taking place on Thursday, at 5:00 pm at the Bahrain Handball Federation Hall in Umm Al Hassam. The match will determine the third-place winner and the bronze medalist.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini team aims to return to the podium after a strong tournament, particularly in the group stage, where it secured notable results, before stumbling in the semi-finals against Kuwait in a fierce and closely contested match that denied them a place in the final and the chance to compete for gold.

Coach Mohammed Abdulrahman and his technical staff are focusing on restoring the players’ mental and physical balance, while addressing the offence’s lapses in the previous game, especially on scoring opportunities and avoiding rushed attacks.

The team also relies on its solid defensive structure and rapid transitions from defence to offence, which are strengths that have been instrumental in their success throughout the tournament.

The Bahraini team is aware of the challenge posed by the Chinese team, which has shown notable improvement through cohesive play, quick ball passing among backline players, their ability to penetrate defences and their effective mid-range shooting.
