Bahrain Grand Prix Experience to Debut in Malaysia in 2026

Sepang:The Kingdom of Bahrain is preparing to bring its renowned Grand Prix experience to Malaysia with the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled at Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, 2026. This event will introduce Bahrain's motorsport culture to a new audience in Asia, highlighting the nation's tourism, cultural offerings, and its expertise in hosting Formula 1 events. According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) are collaborating with Malaysian counterparts to organize and manage the race. The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and Gulf Air are also involved, ensuring that attendees experience Bahrain's unique culture, heritage, and hospitality. A significant team of 561 Bahraini marshals and officials, along with BIC staff, will support race operations in partnership with the Sepang International Circuit, the Motorsports Association of Malaysia, Formula 1, and the Fédération Internationale de l'Aut omobile (FIA). After the 56-lap race concludes, the winner will receive the Bahrain Grand Prix trophy. Other trophies will also be awarded, each engraved to commemorate this event's unique staging in Malaysia. The podium ceremony will involve traditional Bahraini rosewater for the top three drivers and the winning team, a custom from the Bahrain Grand Prix. Gulf Air will also perform a flypast over the circuit, maintaining a tradition since the event's inception. Beyond the racetrack, the BTEA will set up the Bahrain Village in the fan zone at Sepang, offering insights into Bahrain's culture and heritage through music, cuisine, and crafts. The village will also feature local Bahraini food and beverage brands, showcasing the Kingdom's culinary diversity. Additional activities include a traditional welcome barbecue for Formula 1 teams and a warm reception for international fans and guests at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, reflecting Bahrain's hospitality. Limited tickets for the race weekend are availa ble through BIC's official website or by contacting the BIC Hotline. The circuit will open at 8:30 AM on Friday and Saturday and at 10:00 AM on Sunday.
