Bahrain-France Summit Enhances Strategic Partnership for Security and Prosperity

Manama:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has acknowledged the recent official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Bahrain as a pivotal moment in the enhancement of the strategic partnership between the two nations. Under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, this visit is seen as a reinforcement of the long-standing friendship rooted in mutual trust, respect, and shared interests, aiming for a safer and more prosperous future.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani emphasized the successful outcomes of the summit, which underscore both countries' commitment to broadening their strategic partnership through the implementation of existing agreements and memoranda of understanding, particularly in the areas of defense, security, and energy. A notable agreement is the memorandum of understanding on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, which focuses on developing skills and expertise for a civilian nuclear program through training and scientific exchanges. Furthermore, opportunities for economic, investment, and industrial cooperation were highlighted, especially following the international space summit held in Paris.

Dr. Al Zayani also praised His Majesty the King's decision to award President Macron the Collar of the Order of Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa- Exceptional Class, recognizing his efforts to bolster bilateral ties and support regional and international peace and security. The Minister commended France's solidarity with Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and its support for humanitarian values and dialogue, as demonstrated by backing Bahrain's initiative for the UN International Day of Peaceful Coexistence.

The Foreign Minister noted France's significant role under President Macron in enhancing regional and international security, alongside the United States and other allies. He acknowledged France's support for UN Security Council Resolution 2817 condemning Iranian attacks, its rejection of Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, and efforts to protect international trade routes.

Dr. Al Zayani reiterated Bahrain's commitment to collaborating with France on regional issues, notably the Palestinian cause, to achieve peace based on the two-state solution. This cooperation is crucial given both nations' positions on the UN Security Council and Bahrain's current presidency of the GCC Ministerial Council.

In conclusion, Dr. Al Zayani stated that the summit embodies the vision of His Majesty the King and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The outcomes are expected to pave the way for substantial joint initiatives that align with the aspirations of both nations and their people, contributing to global peace and sustainable prosperity.
