Bahrain-France Cooperation Strengthens International Peace and Security

Manama:Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, praised the outcomes of the recent talks between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Bahrain. The discussions underscored the deep historical relations and strategic cooperation between Bahrain and France, emphasizing mutual respect and shared perspectives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam highlighted that the King's address during the talks reinforced a commitment to a secure and prosperous future. This partnership was further strengthened by a defense cooperation agreement signed during the King's visit to France last February. The agreement opens the door for broader collaboration in areas such as security, energy, and technology, and includes major projects like the railway connecting Bahrain to other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Al Musallam also pointed out the significance of these talks against the backdrop of political and security challenges in the region, including attacks on GCC sovereignty. He expressed support for the King's condemnation of the Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, reiterating Bahrain's solidarity with Saudi Arabia's security efforts, which are critical to the stability of the entire Arabian Gulf region.

The Speaker affirmed the Council of Representatives' commitment to enhancing Bahrain-France relations, supported by the vision of His Majesty the King and the efforts of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He acknowledged France's role in maritime security and regional stability, as well as its cooperation with the United States to support Lebanon and Syria.

Furthermore, Al Musallam noted that Bahrain's coordination with France, particularly considering Bahrain's position in the United Nations Security Council and its GCC chairmanship, contributes to international peace and security. He stressed the importance of adhering to international law and sovereignty as a foundation for lasting security.

He also welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Bahrain and France on peaceful nuclear energy cooperation. This MoU aims to develop the necessary skills for a sustainable civilian nuclear program, demonstrating both nations' dedication to advancing their partnership in technology and sustainable development.
