Bahrain Engages in High-Level Talks at UN COP Conference on Biological Diversity.

Cali: The Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) participated in the high-level segment of the United Nations (UN) 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, held under the theme "Making Peace with Nature" in Colombia. The SCE highlighted Bahrain's dedication to fulfilling environmental treaties and programmes, and its efforts to implement policies aimed at protecting the environment and natural resources in accordance with international biodiversity standards. According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference addressed several key topics, including the execution of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Discussions centered on mobilising resources and adjusting financial flows to support the framework's goals. Additionally, the conference explored critical issues that connect biodiversity, climate change, and harmony with nature. Bahrain was represented by Ali Abdulla Isa, Director of the Biodiversity Directorate, and Ali Mansour, Head of the Mar ine Species Group, who participated in various consultative meetings. These included the "Mangrove Alliance for Climate" led by the UAE and Indonesia, the "Ministerial Consultative Meeting on the Plastic Pollution Treaty," the 11th Meeting of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, and the 5th Meeting of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit-sharing.
