Bahrain Engages in Global Heritage Protection at 47th World Heritage Committee

Paris: Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), participated in the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee held in France. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed highlighted Bahrain's commitment to protecting cultural and human heritage and its active role in international efforts to safeguard and document these invaluable assets.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed emphasized the significance of the World Heritage Committee meeting as an opportunity to exchange expertise and review achievements in heritage protection. He expressed Bahrain's pride in being part of this global initiative, which unites countries, institutions, and partners to preserve humanity's shared heritage.

The World Heritage Committee is essential for implementing the 1972 World Heritage Convention. It convenes annually to evaluate the nomination files of sites proposed by States Parties for inclusion on the World Heritage List. The Committee also monitors the conservation, protection, and management of already inscribed sites worldwide.

This year's meeting will consider the inscription of 32 new sites on the World Heritage List, marking a critical step in expanding global efforts to preserve cultural and natural heritage.
