Riyadh: The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), University of Bahrain (UoB), and the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, took part in the Cyber Diplomatic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union. This event was held on the sidelines of the 2025 Global Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahrain's delegation comprised experts and academics from prominent national institutions. Dr. Yusuf Mohammed, Director of Cyber Policy Directorate at the NCSC, engaged in a session focused on enhancing cyber resilience by improving regional cybersecurity frameworks and safeguarding critical infrastructure. He outlined Bahrain's initiatives to bolster national cyber resilience by establishing governance structures, security policies, and best practices to protect vital infrastructure. Additionally, he stressed the importance of GCC-EU collaboration in addressing common cyber threats.
Dr. Abdulla Ahmed, Head of the Computer Science Department at UoB, conducted a session on the challenges and priorities of cybersecurity amid rapid technological changes. He discussed the impact of swift technological advancements on cybersecurity priorities and underscored the need for investment in scientific research and specialized education. This, he emphasized, is essential for developing national talent capable of securing cyberspace in the face of evolving digital conditions.
Dr. Mussab Zeyad, Academic Vice Principal from the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, led a session on capacity building, gap bridging, and enhancing cooperation. He highlighted the importance of developing national and regional capacities through knowledge exchange, empowering young talent, and fostering research and academic collaboration between Bahrain and its partners, both regionally and internationally.
These efforts underscore Bahrain's dedication to fostering regional and international collaboration in cybersecurity, building national capacity to tackle increasing technological challenges, and protecting the region's cyberspace. Bahrain's active participation in the GCC-EU cyber diplomacy dialogue contributes to shaping regional and international cybersecurity policy.
