Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain voted in favour of Resolution 2814, which renews the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) to support political stability and assist the Haitian authorities in strengthening the rule of law and respect for human rights. The resolution was adopted unanimously by the Council.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaie, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, welcomed the unanimous adoption of the resolution, particularly in light of the continuing concerning developments and the humanitarian and security challenges facing Haiti.
The Permanent Representative affirmed Bahrain's emphasis on the importance of concerted international efforts and close coordination with the United Nations and regional partners to achieve stability and security in Haiti and to advance its path towards development and peace. He also expressed the Kingdom's solidarity with the Government and people of Haiti, underscoring the importance of providing international support to enable the country to overcome current challenges and secure a safer and more stable future for the friendly Haitian people.
The resolution provides for the continuation of the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti, in recognition of its pivotal role in supporting political and security stability in the country.
