Sakhir: Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), known as 'The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East', is hosting the fifth and final round of the 2025/2026 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, which is set to conclude on Friday, May 1. This popular series has captivated enthusiasts across the region, promising an intense finale in Sakhir with action along BIC's quarter-mile drag strip, part of the NHRA Worldwide Network of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the round will crown the new national champions in drag racing, with winners receiving the 'Wally' trophy. This championship is sanctioned by the NHRA and organized by BIC in collaboration with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Bahrain Drag Racing Commission, and the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission.
The week's events include a Test and Tune session on Wednesday from 5pm to 11.30pm. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for Thursday to establish the elimination ladders, with races continuing into Thursday night and Friday, starting at 5pm on both days.
Fans are encouraged to attend the event finale at BIC, with viewing available from the Start Line Grandstand or the Beyon Grandstand. Tickets are priced at BD5 for the Start Line Grandstand, BD2 for the Beyon Grandstand during Test and Tune, and BD3 for qualifying and race day. The competition features drivers from Bahrain and the GCC, following strong participation in previous rounds, competing across 13 classes for cars and motorbikes. Car classes include Index 10.0, Index 9.0, Index 8.5, among others, while motorbike classes include Street Fight 9.5, Index 8.5, Pro Street, and Outlaw.
Competitors aim to win the 'Wally', awarded to NHRA event champions globally. The 'Wally', named after NHRA founder Wally Parks, has been a prestigious accolade since the 1969 NHRA season.
