Bahrain Delegation Attends IPU Islamic Group Meeting in Tanzania

Arusha:A delegation from the Bahrain Parliamentary Division, led by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in the Islamic Parliamentary Group's consultative meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania. The meeting took place alongside the 153rd IPU Assembly and related events from October 5 to 9.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation, which included MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, presented a proposed emergency agenda item focused on "Ensuring freedom of navigation, maritime security and the flow of international trade through maritime corridors and straits in accordance with international law." Fakhro emphasized the importance of this issue, describing it as a strategic concern with significant implications for international security, the global economy, and the welfare of both regional and global populations.

The consultative meeting also involved discussions on the draft agenda and the candidacy of Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, for the presidency of the IPU.
