Bahrain Criticizes Drone Attacks and Iranian Aggression in Regional Security Update

Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today highlighted recent local events, focusing on issues of national security and diplomatic engagements over the past 24 hours. Prominent among these were discussions led by senior officials and a series of condemnations against regional threats. According to Bahrain News Agency, His Majesty King Hamad received numerous cables from Bahraini families, expressing their loyalty and support. Meanwhile, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister visited the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force. He also issued three edicts, numbered 18, 19, and 20 of 2026, although the specific details of these edicts were not disclosed. The Foreign Minister was actively involved in international diplomacy, participating in the MED9-Arab League-Western Balkans Ministerial Meeting and conducting a telephone call with the Somali counterpart. He also praised the security forces for thwarting a cell linked to the Islamic Revolutiona ry Guard Corps (IRGC). Bahrain issued strong statements condemning ongoing Iranian aggression towards the UAE and drone attacks targeting Kuwait. Further condemnations were made regarding a drone attack on a commercial cargo vessel within Qatari territorial waters. The Interior Ministry reported that an IRGC-linked organization, consisting of former members of the dissolved Scholars Council, had established a terrorist group. In other diplomatic engagements, Bahrain's Ambassador to Paris welcomed a delegation from the Bahrain Journalists Association, and the Brazilian Senate President received ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Jordan. Additionally, GCC ambassadors in Malaysia met with Malaysia's Parliament's Special Select Committee on International Relations and International Trade. The Shura Chairman in Bahrain hosted the President of the Jordanian Senate, while Bahrain's participation in a meeting to evaluate the progress of the GCC railway project was noted. Syria also expressed i ts solidarity with Bahrain, supporting measures to ensure security. Further diplomatic activities included the Khaleeji Holding Group Chairman meeting with the US Ambassador, and Derasat's involvement in the "Bridging Stability: EU-GCC Cooperation in an Era of Fragmentation" initiative. The Chief of Organizations Sector attended a conference on children and armed conflict in Malta.
