Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the Iranian attack targeting two tankers operated by UAE energy company ADNOC while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The attack was described as a serious threat to regional security and stability, the safety of maritime navigation, and a violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2817, and International Maritime Organization resolutions.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's solidarity with the United Arab Emirates in all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, stability, and interests. This stance stems from the depth of the longstanding relations between the two countries.
The Ministry called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities by taking firm and deterrent measures to compel Iran to immediately cease all hostilities, respect freedom of navigation, and ensure the safety of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and other international waterways. It emphasized that the Strait must not be used as a tool of pressure or economic coercion, given its importance to energy security, food and medicine supplies, global trade, and regional and international stability and prosperity.
