Riyadh:Bahrain The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing terrorist attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia. These attacks have recently included a renewed strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which follows a similar assault on the facility just two days earlier.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain highlighted that these assaults are a clear violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and the UN Charter. It described the attacks as an unacceptable escalation that threatens regional security, civil aviation, and the safety of civilian passengers and flight crews, while also breaching the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation and ICAO regulations.
Bahrain reaffirmed its total solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures taken by the Kingdom to ensure its security and stability. It emphasized Saudi Arabia's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and the GCC Joint Defence Agreement, stressing that Saudi security is integral to Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The Ministry urged the UN Security Council, ICAO, and the international community to take decisive action to stop Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. It called for accountability for the perpetrators and their sponsors and the enforcement of relevant resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2817, to maintain regional and international peace and security.
