Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the renewed terrorist attacks carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, targeting a number of civilian, economic, and vital facilities and sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to a number of civilians, including women and children.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these attacks, along with the continued targeting of commercial vessels and the threat to the freedom and safety of international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, represent a dangerous escalation. The Ministry stated these actions are a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It also highlighted the blatant challenge these attacks pose to relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution (2216) and Resolution (2817), which call for an end to all support for armed groups in the region.
The Ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures taken to preserve its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents. It praised the vigilance of the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces in confronting these attacks and protecting civilian lives. The Ministry also emphasized that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia is integral to that of Bahrain and all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, referencing the historical ties and the GCC Joint Defence Agreement.
The Ministry called upon the international community, particularly the Security Council, to take a firm stance to deter these terrorist attacks, hold their perpetrators accountable, and implement relevant Security Council resolutions. It stressed the importance of maintaining regional and international security and stability, protecting civilians and infrastructure, ensuring safe international navigation, and safeguarding energy supplies and global trade. As a non-permanent member of the Security Council, Bahrain will continue to collaborate with GCC members and international partners for a decisive international response, appreciating the Security Council members' condemnation of these attacks.
The Ministry reiterated Bahrain's appreciation for Saudi Arabia's diplomatic, humanitarian, and development efforts in supporting a comprehensive Yemeni-led political solution to the crisis in Yemen. It affirmed support for the legitimate Yemeni government and the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General in accordance with the Gulf Initiative, outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant Security Council resolutions. The Ministry also reiterated Bahrain's firm stance against violence and terrorism and its support for regional security and stability.
