Bahrain Condemns Houthi Attack on Madinah Power Station

Madinah:The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia's attack on the Taiba power distribution station in Madinah, a facility supplying electricity to the Prophet's Mosque.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Charter. The Ministry called it a dangerous escalation against holy sites and a provocation to Muslims worldwide.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bahrain's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, emphasizing its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. Bahrain underscored that Saudi Arabia's security is integral to its own, highlighting the religious significance of Saudi Arabia as the custodian of Islam's two holiest mosques.

Bahrain also urged the UN Security Council to take decisive action against the persistent Houthi attacks on civilian and religious targets. The Ministry called for the enforcement of relevant resolutions, particularly UNSC Resolutions 2216 and 2817, to hold the perpetrators and their proxies accountable and to safeguard regional and international security.
