Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for 2026, Salah Haider Hussain, Director of the Zakat Fund Department at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, chaired the virtual 18th meeting of the Committee of Specialists from the GCC authorities responsible for Zakat.
According to Bahrain News Agency, committee members discussed topics aimed at strengthening GCC cooperation in the field of Zakat. Key agenda items included Bahrain's proposal for a GCC Zakat Week, a proposal to establish an integrated GCC digital platform to support training programmes, courses, lectures, and innovative ideas and initiatives that promote institutional zakat education and awareness, as well as progress on implementing the sixth joint forum plan for 2026-2031.
