Bahrain celebrates International Day of Disabled Persons

Bahrain marks the International Day of Disabled Persons, which is celebrated every year on December 3 and approved by the United Nations General Assembly since 1992.

This international day came to raise awareness and support the rights of disabled persons in compliance with international conditions to support human rights, bring peace and security, and implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Labor and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to improve the conditions of persons with disabilities by launching initiatives and projects to serve them.

He affirmed that Bahrain is appreciated in regional and international forums for its contribution to provide the best for people with disabilities under the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Humaidan said that the National Strategy for Persons with Disabilities executive plan for 2021-2026 is implemented in cooperation with the Higher Committee for Persons with Disabilities, the United Nations (UN) Office in Bahrain and all relevant civil and official bodies.
