Bahrain attends Arab Economic and Social Council session

On behalf of the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the 109th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo.

The session was briefed about the Arab League Secretary-General’s report on the council’s activities and continuous efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic and its economic, social and humanitarian repercussions.

The report also shed light on efforts to build post-pandemic recovery paths, implement the social dimensions of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, and focus on supporting vulnerable groups in society.

At the ministerial level, the Council approved taking the necessary decisions on all economic and social issues that enhance joint Arab social action and support efforts to implement the 2030 sustainable development plan.

Bahrain’s delegation included Finance and National Economy Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for International Cooperation Affairs Nawaf Hashem Al Sada and Head of Arab Countries Relations Abdullah Abdul Hamid Al Aradi, in addition to the Head of International Trade Organizations at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Khalil Ibrahim Muhanna.
