Manama: Bahrain and Russia have signed an agreement focused on boosting customs cooperation. The agreement was formalized during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in the Russian Federation. Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, and Tatiana Merkushova, Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, underscored its importance for mutual administrative cooperation in customs matters.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad emphasized that the agreement is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing and modernizing customs operations in line with Bahrain Customs' 2024-2027 strategic plan. This development reflects a broader international trend towards strengthening cross-border partnerships.
The agreement is structured to deepen cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Russia's customs authorities, focusing on the exchange of information and technical expertise. Its objectives include facilitating trade, streamlining customs procedures, and bolstering border security and anti-smuggling measures, which are increasingly crucial given the growing pressures on global supply chains.
This initiative aligns with the Kingdom's efforts to enhance international relations and improve the business and investment environment through knowledge-sharing and more efficient customs operations.
