Manama: The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) recently hosted a specialized workshop on Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism at Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB). The event aimed to bolster the business events sector in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the session was led by Khalid bin Walid Al Zadjali, Director of the Oman Convention Bureau at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. It included participation from 50 representatives linked to business tourism, such as BTEA's marketing and promotion teams, EWB management, hotels, travel agencies, the Economic Development Board (EDB), and other relevant government and social entities.
Al Zadjali shared insights from Oman's experience in hosting and organizing regional and international conferences. He emphasized the importance of leveraging this experience within the framework of the executive program of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bahrain and Oman on tourism cooperation. He noted that the exchange of expertise and joint efforts would help achieve shared objectives in developing the MICE sector in both countries.
Dana Osama Al Saad, Deputy CEO for Resources and Projects at BTEA, highlighted that the workshop was part of implementing the executive program of the tourism cooperation MoU between Bahrain and Oman. She stated that it supports ongoing efforts to further develop the MICE sector in Bahrain, a key pillar of the Tourism Strategy 2022-2026. Al Saad also noted that the advanced facilities of the EWB enhance Bahrain's position as a leading regional hub for hosting international events and reinforce its role as a pioneer in this sector.
