Tokyo: During the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Japan, the two nations announced the elevation of their bilateral relations from a Comprehensive Partnership to a Strategic Partnership.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this announcement was made during a meeting in Tokyo between His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and His Excellency Shigeru Ishiba, the Prime Minister of Japan. The upgrade in relations highlights the progress achieved under existing agreements and Memoranda of Understanding between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan.
The Strategic Partnership aims to enhance joint collaborative frameworks and explore new avenues in the relationship, prioritizing sectors such as trade, investment, technology, and energy. It also focuses on boosting commercial exchange and initiating direct flights between the two nations.
Additionally, the partnership will strengthen political and diplomatic cooperation, encouraging collaboration on regional and international issues of mutual concern. The cooperation will extend to the economy, industry, science, technology, digital transformation, space, and healthcare. The countries also plan to develop partnerships in other areas of shared interest.
