Bahrain and Cyprus Focus on Enhancing Maritime and Logistics Cooperation

Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain, engaged in discussions with Alexis Vafeades, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works of Cyprus, during the Cyprus Shipping Conference 2025. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in port development, cargo handling operations, and logistics connectivity. Additionally, both parties considered enhancing the exchange of expertise in specialized logistics services.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed and his delegation also visited the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) in Cyprus. They were welcomed by Commander Andreas Charalambides and received briefings on the cutting-edge technologies deployed for managing emergency and rescue operations. The briefing also covered the coordination mechanisms among relevant institutions. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed commended the center's role in promoting maritime safety and security, stressing the need for ongoing collaboration and knowledge exchange to advance the regional maritime and air rescue sectors.

In another meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed conferred with Marina Hadjimanolis, Minister of Shipping of Cyprus. The discussions focused on enhancing maritime cooperation through expertise exchange and the development of joint initiatives in maritime affairs and commercial shipping services. Both sides highlighted the significance of maintaining coordination and strengthening relations to support economic growth and improve the quality of maritime services. They expressed optimism about a future characterized by deeper cooperation and openness in the maritime sector between Bahrain and Cyprus.
