Bahrain and Cyprus Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties During Diplomatic Talks

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a session of talks with Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The discussions focused on fortifying the historical ties between the two nations and exploring collaborative opportunities across multiple sectors.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani underscored Bahrain's commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the potential for growth in political, economic, commercial, and developmental domains to benefit both countries and their citizens. Dr. Kombos echoed these sentiments, highlighting Cyprus's dedication to leveraging opportunities that enhance economic, commercial, and investment partnerships aligned with mutual interests.

The dialogue between the ministers covered various areas of cooperation, including political consultation, diplomatic training, human rights, and sustainable development. Regional and international issues were also on the agenda, with a focus on conflicts affecting regional security and stability. The ministers discussed efforts to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza, facilitate the release of hostages, ensure unimpeded humanitarian aid, and support peace initiatives in the Middle East.

Dr. Al Zayani briefed Dr. Kombos on the outcomes of the "Bahrain Summit," the Arab Summit hosted by Bahrain in May 2024. He highlighted initiatives such as the call for an international peace conference to establish an independent Palestinian state, provision of services to conflict-affected individuals, and cooperation in fintech and digital transformation.

Both ministers stressed the importance of international cooperation in ending regional conflicts, achieving peace, promoting tolerance, and fostering development and prosperity for all. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries, including Ambassador Khaled Yousef Al Jalahma and Dr. Andreas Eliades, among others.
