Bahrain Airport Company and Texel Air Forge Strategic Partnership at Paris Airshow 2025

Paris: Bahrain Airport Company and Texel Air have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance MRO hangar capabilities at Bahrain International Airport. The signing took place during the Paris Air Show, attended by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications. The agreement aims to expand maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations, aligning with Bahrain's strategy to advance its civil aviation sector.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the memorandum was signed by Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, and George Chisholm, Executive Board Member of Texel Air. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah highlighted the significance of MRO as a crucial component of Bahrain's aviation strategy, offering promising investment opportunities and supporting the national aviation ecosystem. The Minister noted that this partnership with Texel Air exemplifies the integration of public and private sectors in advancing aviation services.

Under the agreement, Texel Air will construct a new 7,000-square-metre Code C aircraft hangar and allocate 10,000 square metres for apron and handling areas. This facility will accommodate up to three Code C aircraft or multiple business jets, providing a climate-controlled environment that meets international maintenance standards. This expansion is expected to enhance Bahrain International Airport's capacity as a regional aviation hub.

Khalid Hussain Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group, stated that the memorandum aligns with the Group's vision to create sustainable opportunities for private sector partners, supporting the national economy through aviation infrastructure investment. He emphasized the importance of the partnership with Texel Air, a Bahraini company with significant regional influence, in fostering a conducive environment for air cargo and aircraft maintenance activities.

Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, reiterated the company's commitment to supporting investors at Bahrain International Airport and facilitating their business growth. He noted that the logistics sector is vital for diversifying airport services and strengthening Bahrain's position as a regional aviation hub. Goh acknowledged Texel Air as a strategic partner contributing to the air cargo and aviation ecosystem at the airport.

George Chisholm, Executive Board Member of Texel Air, expressed the company's dedication to Bahrain as a strategic base for commercial and private operations. He emphasized the strategic partnership with Bahrain Airport Company aimed at developing infrastructure to meet regional demands.
