Bahrain Advocates for Global Health and Security at 79th World Health Assembly

Geneva: Ambassador Abdullah Abdulatif Abdullah, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, participated in the opening of the 79th World Health Assembly held in Switzerland. Addressing the Assembly's general discussion under the theme "Reshaping Global Health: A Shared Responsibility," Ambassador Abdullah reaffirmed Bahrain's appreciation for the World Health Organization and its efforts to advance equitable healthcare and address global health challenges. According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Abdullah highlighted Bahrain's commitment, guided by its leadership, to strengthening healthcare systems and achieving universal health coverage through integrated services, effective regulatory frameworks, and expanded investment in precision medicine and advanced treatments. He condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, GCC countries, and Jordan, describing them as violations of international law and threats to regi onal and international security. He warned of their impact on civilian infrastructure, healthcare systems, and medical and essential supply chains. He called for support of the draft resolution titled "Public Health Implications of the Unprovoked Attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran on Civilians and Essential Civilian Infrastructure in Gulf Cooperation Council Countries and Jordan," submitted by the GCC states and Jordan, which highlights the serious health and humanitarian consequences of these attacks on civilians, healthcare facilities, supply chains, and essential services. Ambassador Abdullah reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and support for regional and global health systems in line with the principle of leaving no one behind.
