Manama: Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain, the Attorney General, recently received a semi-annual report from the Reconciliation Office, presented by Noora Jamal Al Mualla, Chief of the Family and Child Prosecution, and Mohammed Abdulhakeem Buhejji, Head of the Reconciliation Office. The report detailed the office's activities in resolving family and child-related cases from January to June.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Mualla highlighted the office's commitment to promoting restorative justice by resolving disputes through reconciliation and mutual agreement, thus reducing the necessity for court proceedings. This approach not only alleviates the judiciary's workload but also fosters harmony among family members and addresses offenses committed by children in a constructive manner.
Buhejji provided an overview of the office's performance since its inception, revealing that it successfully resolved more than one-third of the cases referred to it through reconciliation, achieving a settlement rate of 41%. Out of 1,067 cases received, 436 were settled through reconciliation. Assault cases were the most common referrals, followed by cases of insult and defamation.
Additionally, Buhejji reported that during the first half of the year, the office received 247 cases and resolved 97 of them through reconciliation, achieving a settlement rate of 39%. These efforts underscore the office's vital role in promoting family stability and cohesion.
The Attorney General praised the Reconciliation Office for its significant contributions to resolving family and child cases, emphasizing the importance of its work in supporting family stability and advocating for restorative justice. He recognized the dedication of the office's staff in resolving disputes in a way that prioritizes the best interests of children and strengthens family bonds.
