New york: Dana Imad Hamzah, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, took part in the summit titled ‘A Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Global Economy: Implementing Commitments of Financing Development’. The event was held in New York alongside the High-Level Week of the 80th UN General Assembly.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing commitments related to financing the Sustainable Development Goals. It aimed to promote dialogue between governments and multilateral financial institutions, and explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the United Nations and international financial institutions in support of the 2030 Agenda.
In her statement on behalf of Bahrain, Hamzah reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing development on all fronts. She emphasized the nation’s leading initiatives in financing sustainable development, which include the adoption of open data and inclusive digital finance, as well as comprehensive strategies driven by technology, innovation, and research.
Hamzah also highlighted the significant role of the financial services sector, identifying it as a priority for investing in human capital and driving sustainable finance through innovation. She underscored the importance of financial technology in supporting financial inclusion and stability, and noted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to enhance its data systems. These efforts are crucial for ensuring transparency, guiding investment into projects that yield economic, social, and environmental benefits, and supporting financial sustainability.
