Manama: Dana Imad Hamzah, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Sustainable Development, participated in the High-Level Segment of the General Assembly to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 81).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Hamzah delivered the Kingdom of Bahrain's statement, affirming that, under the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain has consistently attached great importance to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. This approach is based on the recognition that improving citizens' quality of life and expanding opportunities in education, employment, healthcare and social protection are fundamental pillars for building a prosperous and sustainable society.
The statement highlighted Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and its role as an ambitious national framework for enhancing competitiveness, sustainability and fairness, and developing a more diversified economy capable of creating opportunities, with citizens at the heart of the development process.
It affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to invest in people, develop human capital, empower youth and women, and advance innovation and digital transformation in line with sustainable development requirements and future challenges. It noted that the right to development is closely linked to ensuring equal opportunities, enhancing participation, promoting social justice, and empowering individuals and communities to contribute to shaping their future and benefit from the gains of development.
She emphasised the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation and international partnerships in support of sustainable development. She noted that peace, security and stability are essential foundations for ensuring the right to development and safeguarding its gains. She reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to dialogue, cooperation and peaceful solutions that contribute to lasting peace and shared prosperity.
