Arab League urges increasing int’l efforts to protect Palestinians

The Arab League called for increasing international efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and to provide international protection for Palestinians.

This came in a statement by the League after Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali’s meeting with Australian Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Axel Wabenhorst and Director of the East and North Africa Department at the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Bator.

The League called on the international community, the UNSC and international organizations concerned with human rights to take on its responsibility in pressuring the Israeli occupation to abide by international law and UNSC resolutions.

It also called for an immediate sustainable ceasefire and opening border crossings to provide humanitarian aid for the people in the Strip, while beginning reconstruction there, as well as achieving the two-state solution and restoring Palestinians’ legitimate rights of self-determination and
establishing an independent sovereign Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.

During the meeting, they reviewed developments in the Palestinian cause and the continuation of the Israeli aggression against Palestinians, especially in Gaza Strip, which is subjected to the most heinous war crimes, starvation, crimes against humanity and genocide.

They also discussed Arab and international efforts to cease fire and impacts of war expansion on international security and stability, in addition to the humanitarian catastrophe that Palestinians in the Strip are living and terrorizing them in the occupied West Bank.
