Arab League pushes digital drive as means to promote tourism

The Arab League encourages efforts to accelerate a digital drive in the wider region as a tool that promotes and subsequently develops the tourism industry, an official from the bloc said on Tuesday.

Employing digital means can be instrumental in attracting large number of tourists to the Arab world, the Cairo-based bloc's unions and organizations chief Mohammad Abdulqader told pan-Arab talks bringing together tourism experts from the region in the Egyptian capital.

Creative and innovative tourism promotion plans serve as a "roadmap" towards bolstering the sector in the region, added the official, calling for a "unified vision" on the part of Arab countries in a bid usher in more growth in the tourism industry.

Echoing the official's sentiments, Egypt's Deputy Tourism Minister Ghada Shalaby told the gathering that the aforementioned plans serve as a gateway to tourism in the region, calling for greater investments in the crucial sector.

The four-day talks held in Cairo and Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, which is garnering a large turnout, shine light on some of the most renowned hotspots for tourists in Egypt and beyond.
