Geneva: Under Bahrain's chairmanship of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Geneva, the headquarters of the Arab League Mission witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Arab League and the University for Peace (UPEACE) to enhance academic cooperation and capacity building in peace, development, and human rights.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva; Hichem Bayoudh, Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States to the United Nations Office at Geneva; David Fern¡ndez, Permanent Observer of the University for Peace to the United Nations Office in Geneva; a number of Arab ambassadors accredited in Geneva; and a team from UPEACE.
Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla stated that the cooperation comes within the framework of enhancing partnerships between the Arab League and international academic institutions. This collaboration aims to enable Arab professionals to benefit from the University for Peace and United Nations programmes, particularly in multilateral relations, supporting development and peacebuilding efforts, and enhancing Arab participation in international educational and research frameworks.
