Brussels: Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, Ambassador of Bahrain to Belgium, led the Kingdom’s delegation at the 14th GCC-EU Economic Dialogue, convened today at the European Commission in Brussels. The event marked a significant gathering aimed at fostering collaboration between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union (EU).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the GCC Secretariat’s delegation was headed by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al Owaishek, GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, and Negotiations. The EU side was led by Annika Ericsg¥rd, Director for International Economic and Financial Relations and Global Governance, with participation from senior experts and officials from both the GCC and the European Union.
Dr. Behzad emphasized the importance of the dialogue as a forum for enhancing cooperation between the GCC and the EU. He noted that both sides are seeking to address common economic challenges, support sustainable growth, and explore new avenues for partnership in trade, investment, and clean energy.
Ericsg¥rd highlighted the benefits of maintaining regular and open exchanges. She pointed out the constructive engagement seen in previous dialogue rounds and noted the potential of the dialogue to align priorities and strengthen cooperation across multiple fields.
Discussions during the dialogue covered key economic, political, and security issues. Participants reviewed papers on economic diversification, boosting trade and investment, and advancing a more sustainable green transition, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the discussions.
