Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani affirmed the government's desire to provide an opportunity for Malaysian companies to contribute to the development and reconstruction of infrastructure.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated: "Today, Al-Sudani met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdel-Kadir and his accompanying delegation."
The meeting witnessed discussions on the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, and means of developing the partnership, for the benefit of the two friendly peoples, as well as discussing cooperation in the fields of tourism, religious tourism, diplomatic development, industry and agriculture.
The Prime Minister referred to a number of cultural commonalities and close positions that bring the two countries together, stressing the government's desire to provide an opportunity for Malaysian companies to contribute to the development and reconstruction of infrastructure, and more economic cooperation and facilities provided to Iraqi students on scholarships to Malaysia, expressing Iraq's readiness to receive Malaysian citizens who wish to visit religious places and holy shrines and to provide them with all facilities.
He also indicated the need to consolidate bilateral cooperation, through coordination between the countries of the Islamic world to deter extremist rhetoric and confront abuses that attempt to undermine Islamic sanctities and encourage hatred.
For his part, the Malaysian minister conveyed his country's appreciation of Iraq's positions and its appreciation of the importance of bilateral relations, and its decision to reopen the Malaysian diplomatic mission in Baghdad.
He also affirmed his country's desire to resume the work of the joint committee between the two countries.
