The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called for removing the issue of electricity in the country from international and regional political conflicts, calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take urgent action with the American side and settle the financial dues resulting from the import of Iranian gas.

Al-Mandalawi said in a statement: “Iraq is an independent country since 1932 and does not allow the United States of America or any other country, under any circumstances or time, to impose its hegemony over its sovereignty and economy or attempt to humiliate its people who have suffered the scourge of wars by creating the current electricity crisis, which is one of the reflections of intervention.” In the country’s affairs and trying to keep it under the arrogance of what is known as the global system and the forces controlling it,” stressing “the need to avoid using such sensitive files that harm the interests of peoples and their future stability.”
