Al-Lafi discusses with Batili elections and national reconciliation.

Today, Sunday, the representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed with the UN envoy to Libya, “Abdullah Batili”, the latest developments in the situation in Libya, especially the elections and national reconciliation, and the results of the 5 + 5 committee meetings that were held in Paris recently.

Batili praised the announcement of the launch of the work of the Preparatory Committee for National Reconciliation, which was held recently in the Congolese capital, Brazzaville, which will pave the way for the convening of the inclusive conference with the wide participation of the Libyan people.

The UN envoy briefed Al-Lafi on his recent meetings with the Libyan parties with the aim of achieving stability and holding elections whose results would be agreed upon by all parties, according to the Presidential Council on its Facebook page.

Batili affirmed the mission’s continued support for the efforts of the Presidential Council, which aims to make the national reconciliation project a success, in coordination with the mission’s specialized experts to contribute to the success of this file.

In turn, Al-Lafi confirmed that the meetings of the committee will be in Libya, to present a positive message that enhances the success of the national reconciliation file.

He referred to the efforts made to convene the Transitional Justice Forum with the participation of a group of international experts, the families of the victims and the war, and its success will contribute to the success of the national reconciliation file.

And the deputy in the Presidential Council considered restoring confidence between the political parties as a key factor for the success of the political process, in addition to the accompanying laws and legislation.
