Al Hamer Highlights Responsible AI Use at Arab Media Forum


Kuwait City: Nabeel bin Yacoub Al Hamer, His Majesty the King’s Advisor for Media Affairs, took part in a significant session at the Arab Media Forum in Kuwait, focusing on AI’s role in media credibility and information verification. The session was moderated by former Kuwaiti Information Minister Sami Al Nisf.



According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Hamer stressed the necessity for responsible AI usage to benefit society. He drew parallels between the current AI debate and the early internet era, which faced skepticism before proving its utility in professional and practical domains.



Al Hamer advocated for AI as a tool to enhance human capabilities, not replace them, and stressed its potential for increasing productivity. Dr. Mohammed Al Enezi from Kuwait warned of AI’s challenges, including its potential to erode manual skills and introduce biases.



Dr. Mohamed Binhuwaidin from the UAE underscored AI’s impact on professions and emphasized the need for education systems to prepare a critical-thinking generation. He called for international legislation to regulate AI, highlighting the Gulf region’s readiness to tackle AI challenges.



Faisal Al Ali from Zain Kuwait highlighted the importance of social responsibility and regulatory frameworks in AI use, focusing on data protection and privacy. He urged institutions to handle AI technologies cautiously to safeguard customer information.
